You're seeing some familiar photos here... I've used many of these photos in my "Oakland, Florida USA" scrapblog! I've reworked them here for the, Scrap your favorite city or town challenge... this time I've added some photos from a familiar television series along with some Florida wildlife... to give it more "flavor". Hope you enjoy!
I've updated the deadlines for the upcoming challenges...Challenge 07: Scrap your favorite mug (deadline 9/19) Challenge 08: Scrap your favorite piece of art, artwork or artist (deadline 9/26)Challenge 09: Scrap your favorite pet or animal... for those without pets (deadline 10/3)Challenge 10: Scrap your favorite hobby (deadline 10/10)Challenge 11: Scrap your favorite town or city... must include one map and brief history (deadline 10/17)Okay, I think there is something here for everyone... so let's get busy and get challenged!!!!
An attractive presentation as usual and those sepia shots of T.V. characters contrast well with the coloured photos of the area.I'm afraid after that week I 'took out' I'm finding it tricky to get back into the swing of things but I thought I MUST just see what my friends are up to!
Karen, it is wonderful to see all of the wildlife that inhabit your area. I also love that your town has both mossy oak and palm trees. What a contrast! Thanks for sharing your favorite town.
Oh Karen... how can any of us compete with you in these challenges?! You are my Scrapblog Idol... a true inspiration!
Thanks for all of the nice comments everyone! For the record, I don't live in Oakland... it's just a cool little town, I think! Another cool little town is, Micanopy! I need to scrap that one some day, too! :)
Future challenges: deadlines pendingChallenge 12: Scrap your favorite color... anything goes!Challenge 13: Scrap your favorite retreat (favorite place to relax and get away from it all)Challenge 14: Scrap your favorite photographer or photos (can focus on one photographer, or several, or photo theme, or genre of photos, or photographic applications... no rules!)
Wonderful as usual Karen! That seems like a great little town. I'm ready to move! ;)Tam
Oakland looks very cool, I love the sepia theme you used for your photos!great job!!
I agree with everyone. Oakland seems like such a cool town. This inspires me to create one about the town where my mom lives. It's also a small town. Hmmmm, I'll have to see if anything comes to mind. Thanks for continuing to inspire us!Rebecca
Thanks for those links to 'Scottish themed' scrapblogs. I went to them straight away and enjoyed them both. Now I'm feeling guilty I haven't started mine! I seem to have trillions of things to do before I can even get to the computer!
Wow, you have been busy, Karen. I love this scrapblog......all the little touches like the little creatures, the journaling and wording (funny!, the sepia toned Mayberry characters, the sheriff badges, all the mossy photos, etc.......I didn't realize how close Oakland is to central Orlando!Love,Susie
That bandstand is so pretty and the Spanish Moss reminds me so much of holidays in Florida. If Oakland is only 17 miles from Orlando-do the two places merge or is there countryside in between?
Looks like a cool place to live, great job!!!
Hey- thanks for such a quick reply! I'm just browsing and chatting on 'Scrapblog' instead of getting on with something more serious.Have a good day!
Very good again. Nice story telling and composition. Clever use of monochrome and color. Simpler subjects get the little_m treatment, and all that in SB layers, which, in your hands, seems to offer emulate Photoshop functions.I repeat my previous comments(cf the Tudors).
I love this scrapblog. Sure brings back memories :-)
The Texas state bird is the Mockingbird too. :-)
Interesting... I did not know that Texas and Florida shared the same bird!
VERY PRETTY!!!
OK,I have never done a scrap for a challenge, but this one has inspired me to do so. Great work as usual!
I was trying to comment on your 'Scrappin Gals Unite' SB and it will not let me, so I will comment on it here!I love the Rainforest Cafe, its so cool and your SB is sooooooo Awesome!Im jealous that you two got to meet Rebecca because I want to meet the three of you too! I would just LOVE that! :)
that would be awesome to have a Scrapblog Retreat!I was in Orlando, Florida for the first week of August for my brothers Karate World Championship (and I am almost finished with the SB of it, too bad that we couldnt have met then.
ok, I didnt have computer access at the time and I really really wish I had so we could have met somewhere and I actually asked my mom if we could find any computers in the hotel that i could use but we were so busy we didnt get to. :(
that sounds great!
Wow! HOW FUN! This is better than any travel brochure I've ever seen. I've got to visit there. I love the way you included all the sepia-tone cropped shots from the Andy Griffith show - just brilliant! And I really like the license plate on page 2 and the owl on page 15. Such a lively and lovely book. And THANK you for your kind and encouraging comments and the love on my Anne Geddes scrapblog!
brilliant job!!it takes a lot of time, i can seejust beautiful
I love this!!! Andy Griffith is still one of my all time favorite tv shows and the way you put it in your blog is fantastic! Love it!!!
